If you haven't noticed by now, I am currently a junior in high school, going to school in some lame town in some lame place. So, its no surprise that I don't exactly have the best role models fashion wise around here. Add to that the addiction of the kids in my school to Abercrombie&Fitch, American Eagle, and Aeropostale, and you can spell disaster. Most of the kids in my school dress in these brands, and so most often everybody looks like a clone of each other. Of course, there are the goths, and punks, and other stereotypes who dress a bit differently, but they too often have some of these brands in their closets. Besides being overly expensive, they are often times, very unstylish. Why in the world would you want 20 shirts from Aeropostale which cost $13 and look exactly the same, with a tacky slogan to add to the horror? I am willing to bet that nobody actually likes these clothes, that they wear them out of peer pressure, and because they want to fit in. I dress way differently from a lot of kids in my school, I dress more like a grown up then a teenager. I love dress pants and dressy tops with some classy heels, but even I have ended up wearing jeans and some lame t-shirt to school because I was too lazy to actually pick out a nice top. I dislike t-shirts a lot, but sadly, I have many. It's just that the more dressy tops that I like are a bit to expensive for my budget. Here's what I wore the other day, a bit strange for a high schooler to be wearing a blazer, but I love it, and I got quite a few compliments. I unfortunately wore just a plain blue long sleeved shirt under it, which wasn't exactly my first choice, but I was in a hurry. I wore with this ensemble some black jeans, because black dress pants seemed a bit too formal.
If you want to emulate this style and you are on a budget I suggest shopping around because the blazer is pretty expensive, but I was lucky enough to have gotten this on sale for $10 at some store which I just can't remember the name of. But if you have the money, head over to Forever21, which sells the one above for $29.80
here you can also get one that is a bit different than the one above, but still pretty cute from Forever21 for $16.50 at
here The jeans I got from my sister, but you can pick up a pair from JCPenney's for $20
here
If you want to create a complete outfit, you can get
this cute braided chain halter top from Forever21 for $15, it is also available in black and turquoise. You can also just wear a basic black tank under the blazer, like
this black lace trim camisole for $12 or 7 euros from debenhams. For even cheaper tanks and cami's, head on over to
GAP for tanks as cheap as $3!! Thrown on some classic
flats and maybe a nice
bracelet from Forever21 for $3.50 and you are good to go!!! I hope you enjoyed this post, please comment on it. Here's the full set:
